the spark
2008
Our founder, Mehmet Mahruki (Memo), experienced Burning Man. The spirit of radical self-expression, human connection, and collective creation stayed with him. He began questioning why we should wait a whole year to experience such an open-hearted, non-judgmental community.
the discovery
2014
While exploring the southern coastline of Türkiye, Memo followed a winding road and discovered a secluded bay hidden between forest and sea. He knew instantly this was the canvas to build the community he had imagined.
the name
2015
The official name of the bay is Boncuk, the Turkish word for "bead," inspired by the colorful pebbles along its shore. With a small, intentional twist in spelling, Boncuk became Bonjuk—the beginning of a shared frequency.
the symbol
behind the magic
We chose the spiral as our primary emblem for what it represents: evolution, connection, and the continuous unfolding of life. Found throughout the patterns of the natural world, it reflects a continuous movement inward and outward; the eternal dance between the self and the whole.
For us, it mirrors the exact journey Bonjuk invites you into: from outer noise to inner awareness, and from separation back to absolute connection.
